The burial mound at Copt Hill dates back to the mesolithic and was first excavated in 1877 by Canon William Greenwell of Durham Cathedral. It was originally thought to date to the neolithic, but more recent excavations in 2003 have pushed this date back to the Mesolithic making it approximately 7000 years old, older than Stonehenge. The trees are obviously not that old and there were originally 7. Unfortunately one died and was removed, another remains at the site making 5 and a half sister now.
The site is a scheduled ancient monument but visitors are able to walk around the site which is popular with locals for dog walks. During the summer the site also has cows grazing on it.

If you would like a different size then please contact me. Your print will be printed on archival photographic paper at the professional photographic lab. Please note that your print will be delivered without a mount or frame.
