This beautiful art print shows the Penshaw Monument, a Victorian folly standing atop a hill to the west of Sunderland (by Penshaw Village). Illustrated in the retro Travel Poster or Railway Poster style popular in the early twentieth century, it gives a nostalgic twist to a modern contemporary artwork. It is perfect for any lover of the area and north east England. Ideal as gift for someone special or as a treat to yourself.
The artwork has been created by Mara Louvain Robinson, is exclusive to Alchemi Art and it is not available from any other retailers or online sites.
This imposing monument was built in 1844 in memory of the 1st Earl of Durham. It is a replica of the ancient Temple of Hephaestus on a smaller scale. Although visitors can climb up the hill and view the surrounding countryside from inside the monument, it is also visible or many miles.
This Penshaw Monument Print is currently available to buy online in the A4 (with small white border) and 16×12″ (without border) sizes only. If you would like a different size then please contact me.
