This beautiful greeting card shows St Marys Lighthouse by Whitley Bay and is the perfect gift for any lover of lighthouses, the seaside or maritime architecture.  As an added bonus the image was also created using a variation of the historic Cyanotype process in blue, white and gold for an added touch of historical nostalgia.

Exclusive to Alchemi Art you won’t find this card in the big chain stores.

This iconic lighthouse built on St Marys Island just north of Whitley Bay was built in 1898.  The causeway out to the island is tidal with the island itself only accessible at low tide.  Although it replaced a previous lighthouse dating back to 1664, there has been a navigation light there since the 11th Century.  Eventually, the lighthouse was decommissioned in 1984 and is now open to visitors with a museum and cafe.

This St Marys Lighthouse Greeting Card measures 150 x 150 mm. On the front, it features a print of an original artwork by Mara Louvain of Alchemi Art. It comes with a white envelope, packaged in a recyclable cello bag. The card is blank inside, so you can write your own message of love, friendship, or congratulations. It is the perfect way to send a special someone a reminder of your affection or to celebrate a special occasion.

The card is made of high-quality 300 gsm FSC cardstock, which means that it is made from responsibly managed forests. It has been printed here in the UK, comes with a matching white envelope and is kept safe inside a recyclable cello bag. So its environmental credentials are sure to bring a smile to the recipient’s face.

I love working with the old Victorian photographic processes. One of my favourites is the cyanotype which has a distinctive blue and white colour. If you would like to learn more about the process then check out these articles here on the website. Cyanotype Art and the Cyanotype Process. How to make a cyanotype tutorial. Inspired by Anna Atkins.
